چکیده

A queuing system, is a dynamical system whose state evolves in time by the occurrence of events at possibly irregular time intervals. Placetransitions Petri nets (commonly called Petri nets) are a graphical and mathematical modeling tool applicable to queuing systems in order to represent its states evolution. Timed Petri nets are an extension of Petri nets, where now the timing at which the state changes is taken into consideration. Scheduling is a key concept in queuing systems and it refers to the way the queuing system should run to work properly. This work proposes a new methodology for modeling and scheduling design for a class of queuing systems using timed Petri nets and maxplus algebra. An algorithm for computing a generalized eigenmode of reducible regular matrices over the max-plus algebra is applied to the reducible and regular matrix of the recurrence equation associated to the timed Petri net that models the queuing system. The generalized eigenmode obtained sets a schedule for the queuing system. Mathematics Subject Classification: 90B22, 15A80, 68W01, 34H15

Using Interval Petri Nets and Timed Automata for Diagnosis of Discrete Event Systems (DES)

A discrete event system (DES) is a dynamic system that evolves in accordance with the abrupt occurrence, at possibly unknown irregular intervals, of physical events. Because of the special nature of these systems, different tools are currently used for their analysis, design and modeling. The main focus of this paper is the presentation of a new modeling approach of Discrete Event Systems. The ...

A rule-based evaluation of ladder logic diagram and timed petri nets for programmable logic controllers

This paper describes an evaluation through a case study by measuring a rule-based approach, which proposed for ladder logic diagrams and Petri nets. In the beginning, programmable logic controllers were widely designed by ladder logic diagrams. When complexity and functionality of manufacturing systems increases, developing their software is becoming more difficult. Thus, Petri nets as a high l...

Control of Hybrid Petri Nets using Max-Plus Algebra

In this paper, Hybrid Petri Nets are proposed as a modelling methodology to control production in a large class of manufacturing processes. A hybrid Petri net (HPN) is a combination of a ‘classical’ Petri net and a continuous Petri net, the ‘fluid’ version of a timed Petri net. The two parts of an HPN can affect each other. In the particular model proposed, the discrete part of the HPN ‘regulat...

Modeling of Continuous Systems Using Modified Petri Nets

Due to the changes which may occur in their parameters, systems are usually demonstrated by some subsystems for different conditions. This paper employs Modified Petri Nets (MPN) to model theses subsystems and makes it simple to analyze them. In this method, first, the continuous transfer function is converted to a discrete transfer function and then, by MPN, system is modeled and analyzed. All...

A Mixed Lyapunov-Max-Plus Algebra Approach to the Stability Problem for a two Species Ecosystem Modeled with Timed Petri Nets

Consider the interaction of populations, in which there are exactly two species, one of which the predators eats the other the prey thereby affecting each other , s growth rates. In the study of this growth rate dynamics Lotka-Volterra models have been used. This paper proposes a new modeling and analysis methodology which consists in considering the growth rate dynamics as a discrete event sys...
